poems by Donald James Dolby
My Tortured Soul
If I should ramble, world's apart
If I should wander, restless heart
Ties that bind
Never far behind
And fires that burn
Ever to return
For your arms to enfold
My tortured soul.

It's never easy, life is tough
Sometimes think I've had enough
But the wandering star
Never heals the scar
It's only your love
Keeps my head above
Shielding me, patching the hole
In my tortured soul.
