poems by Donald James Dolby
The Art of Unity
The calm and tranquil sea
Blank canvas waiting there
Brush strokes of our thoughts
Paint patterns in the sand
Twice-a-day they're washed away
And leave the canvas bare.

Compare the conference hall
Waiting for our words
To paint the backdrop bright
With ideas of many hues
Clashing colours, subtle tones
Many voices now are heard.

Tumbling words have coloured
The canvas of our minds
Policies and rules been drawn
To show our way ahead
Our colours merge together
Unity is what we find.
