poems by Donald James Dolby
Footprints In The Sand
Into this world I come
Unasked but invited to the party
By my parents who have seen
Their lives half gone and nothing
To show from the toil of their hand
But me, their footprint in the sand.

Now my life too is flying by
And I'm trying to imprint
My impression on this time of mine
But nothing will outlast for long
So I pass it to you two, your land
My sons, my footprints in the sand.
